Ela! Alfa Beta Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 September 2026

This policy covers the Ela! Alfa Beta mobile game (package name com.halonengames.elaab) and support correspondence about it. It does not describe cookies or other processing on our website, which has its own notice.

1Who we are

Halonen Games Oy is the publisher of Ela! Alfa Beta and the controller responsible for the personal information described in this policy.

2Playing and saving your progress

You do not need to create an account to play. The game stores your progress on your device: the levels you have finished and the stars you earned on them, which letters you have met, learned and written, the signs you have read, your settings (language, sound, vibration, voice, reminders), whether you have bought the ad-free version, and when you last played.

We use this local information only to run the game and let you continue where you left off. We do not operate a cloud-save service. Backups made by your phone or its operating system are governed by the backup provider's settings and policies. Clearing the app's storage removes all local game data.

The game does not ask for access to your contacts, photos, microphone, camera or location. It uses your phone's vibration for feedback, which you can turn off in Settings.

3Letters read aloud

Ela! Alfa Beta reads Greek letters and words aloud using the text-to-speech engine built into your phone. The text spoken is only the letter or word on screen. Depending on your phone's speech engine and its settings, the engine may download voices or synthesise speech through its own provider (for example Google's speech services on Android); that processing is governed by your phone's and the engine provider's privacy terms. You can switch the voice off in Settings.

4Gameplay analytics

The game uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how it is played and where it is too hard or too easy, and to improve it. The events we record are about the game, not about you: a level started, finished or lost, a test finished and its score, the shop opened, an advert shown, a purchase made, and the game's language. Our custom events do not contain your name, email address or any text you type or draw.

Firebase also processes technical data on our behalf: a randomly generated app-instance identifier, device model and operating system version, app version, country derived from the IP address, and the timing of sessions. We have disabled the collection of the advertising identifier for analytics. Google processes this data as our processor; see Privacy and Security in Firebase and Google's Privacy Policy.

Where the law requires consent for analytics, the game asks for it before collection begins and you can change your choice in Settings. Otherwise our basis is our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the game. To have the analytics data associated with your installation deleted, email us; we will pass the request to Google.

5Advertisements

The free version shows a short full-screen advert after every third level. Adverts stop for good when you buy the ad-free version (section 6). Advertising is delivered by Google AdMob (Google LLC and, in the European Economic Area, Google Ireland Limited) and its advertising partners.

Ad delivery can involve your IP address, approximate location inferred from it, your device's advertising identifier where available, app and device information, and ad requests, impressions and interactions. Google and its partners use these to deliver and measure adverts and to prevent fraud. We receive aggregated ad-performance reporting only.

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the game shows Google's consent form before the first advert, and your choice decides whether adverts are personalised. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Ad privacy. Your phone also lets you reset or delete the advertising identifier and limit ad tracking. Google's advertising processing is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Our basis for showing adverts is our legitimate interest in funding a free game; personalised advertising is shown only with your consent where consent is required.

6The one purchase

Ela! Alfa Beta offers one optional purchase: removing the adverts, permanently. It is made through Google Play Billing using Unity In-App Purchasing. Google processes your payment. Halonen Games Oy never receives your payment-card or bank-account details.

To deliver and remember the purchase, the game and the purchase service process product and transaction details, receipts, installation identifiers, device information and country. The game stores on your device only the fact that the purchase has been made. If you change phones or reinstall, use “Restore purchase” in the shop, which asks Google Play for your existing purchase.

We process this data to perform the purchase contract and meet legal obligations. See Unity IAP privacy information and Google's Privacy Policy. Transaction records needed for legal obligations may be retained.

7Reminders

If reminders are on, the game schedules one local notification on your phone about sixteen hours after you last played, and never between 22:00 and 08:00. The reminder is created and shown entirely on your device; nothing about your play schedule is sent to us and no remote push service is used. You can turn reminders off in Settings or revoke the notification permission in your phone's settings.

8Support correspondence

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it to answer you, investigate problems and handle privacy requests, and we keep the correspondence only as long as the matter needs. Our mailbox is Gmail, so Google processes the message as our email provider. Please do not send passwords or payment-card details.

9Sharing and international processing

We share information with the service providers described above only as needed for their functions: Google (Firebase Analytics, AdMob, Play Billing, Gmail) and Unity (In-App Purchasing). For advertising, Google and its partners act under their own policies. Information may also be disclosed where legally required or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. We do not sell your personal information.

Google, Unity and their service providers may process information outside your country, including outside the European Economic Area. Where applicable, transfers use recognised safeguards such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses. Contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your data.

10Retention

  • Local progress and settings: on your device until you clear the app's storage or uninstall the game. Device backups may remain separately.
  • Gameplay analytics: Google's default retention for Firebase Analytics user-level data is 2 months; aggregated reports are kept longer.
  • Advertising data: retained by Google and its partners under their own retention criteria.
  • Purchase records: for as long as needed to honour the purchase and meet accounting and legal obligations.
  • Support correspondence: for as long as needed to resolve the matter and document its handling.

11Your rights and choices

Depending on applicable law, you may request access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction or portability, and you may object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where consent is the basis, you may withdraw it at any time. We do not use your information to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Email halonengamesfin@gmail.com. We may need limited information to identify the relevant installation or correspondence. We will explain what is needed and respond within the applicable legal time limit.

You may complain to your local data-protection authority. In Finland, this is the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman.

12Children

Ela! Alfa Beta is intended for adults and is not directed to children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the game, contact us and we will delete it.

13Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the game or its data practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision. Where required, we will provide additional notice or ask for a new consent before the relevant processing starts.
